If you’re a gamer like me, you know that gaming computers are the way to go. Unfortunately, if you’re a gamer like me you know that a decent gaming computer is going to run you about $1500 at least. There are several reasons why this is so. In this article, we are going to go over why gaming computers, whether custom built or store bought, is so incredibly expensive.
Custom built computers
One of the reasons that many gaming computers are so expensive is because of the enhancement that is made to them. Think about it, when you search for a gaming computer you want the most up to date model. You also want the best graphics card (GPU) and processor (CPU) you can find for the best gaming experience out there. Well, GPU’s and CPU’s aren’t cheap, and with only two companies selling them, odds are demand is higher than the supply. Since you have to have both a GPU and a CPU to run, well, anything on a computer, these two companies can charge whatever they like anyway.
If you want some high RAM then you also need a Motherboard. The Motherboard is what brings all the hardware together and is what supports a high amount of RAM. DDR memory and GDDR memory are also essential, since you will be needing both of these in order for your computer to read anything you want to play. The better the Motherboard and Memory is, the more complex the graphics and gameplay itself can be.
These are the three main things you need when building your own gaming computer. This does not include the power supply, cooling system, and other materials that are essential to a functioning computer. The components stated above are just what makes the computer good, they don’t actually make it run. So, if you’re planning on building your own gaming computer, prepare for a lot of out of pocket spending, around the $2500 to $3500 range, possibly more depending on what brand name you want to go with.
Prebuilt gaming computers
That being said pre-built computers are also incredibly expensive, but will be cheaper than building your own. Though, not that much cheaper. Companies like ASUS, Dell, and several others all create computers specifically made for gaming. Some of them are actually pretty cheap as well, but if you want quality, you’re going to have to pay more.
The problem with gaming computers are that even though there are several different brands with several different lines of gaming computers, they’re never going to be as good as one you built yourself. Many have amazing CPUs, but when you get down to it you’re going to have to replace the GPU, and vice versa. It doesn’t matter how much you pay for a pre-built computer; odds are you’re going to have to tweak something in the system.
Gaming computers are expensive for a reason. Unfortunately, if you want a custom-built computer you’re going to have to spend a ton of money on everything. Even a pre-built computer is going to need a few tweaks in it’s system. Though, if you are a true gamer, the end product will be worth it.
